From January 2016 until the present time, the San Antonio Bay Estuarine Waterkeepers have been monitoring the bays and waterways around Formosa Plastics, Point Comfort, Texas for pellets, flakes, and powder that have been discharged from the plastic facility. After a $50 Million settlement and Consent Decree to stop the discharges and achieve zero discharge of plastics, clean up the plastic pollution, and begin locally selected environmental projects, the monitoring continues. As stipulated in the Consent Decree, a new monitor team has been selected and will survey the local bay and waterways for illegal discharged pellets, flakes, and powder.
