ACTION ALERT

Monday, December 2 at 1pm – 201 Formosa Dr, Point Comfort, Gate 3

The Lavaca River is a precious resource that supports local businesses, wildlife, and our way of life. We’re organizing a peaceful demonstration in front of Formosa Plastics to oppose the harmful water use application that threatens our communities. This event is a vital opportunity to showcase our collective strength and demand accountability from industries that prioritize profit over environmental protection. Join us to hear from fellow community members as we unite to send a clear message: we will not allow our natural environment to be compromised by polluters!

The Lavaca River is a precious resource that supports local businesses, wildlife, and our way of life. The Lavaca-Navidad River Authority seeks to divert 96,022 acre-feet of water annually from the Lavaca River for Formosa Plastics, a company with over 700 violations and $23.7 million in fines for plastics discharge. This harmful water use application threatens to destroy critical wetlands and wildlife habitats, jeopardizing our commercial fishing industry and plans for Texas’s largest sustainable oyster farm.

We’re organizing a peaceful demonstration in front of Formosa Plastics to oppose this project, which benefits only big industry’s profits, not Calhoun and Jackson County residents. Join us to hear from fellow community members as we unite to send a clear message: we will not allow our natural environment to be compromised by industry polluters!
