Matagorda Ship Channel Improvement Project – Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement Open House

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District will issue a Notice of Intent on June 2, 2023, opening the scoping input period for the Matagorda Ship Channel Project Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.

Public input will help determine what is evaluated in this supplemental environmental review to the existing Final Environmental Impact Statement.

USACE is conducting this supplemental review due to new circumstances that may have bearing on the proposed action or its impacts.

Save the Date for a drop-in open house where you can learn about:

The channel improvement project
USACE’s role in port navigation and this project
The National Environmental Policy Act, the SEIS process, and use of your input
Stop by any time on June 7, 2023, between 6 – 8 p.m. at the Bauer Exhibit Hall, Calhoun County, 186 Henry Barber Way

Brief overview presentations are currently scheduled for 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. USACE and Calhoun Port Authority staff will be available to answer questions.

Scoping input can be submitted between June 2 and July 2, 2023, using several methods:
